⚡ What it does, and how to try it

SMARAN.AI Feature Guide

Each feature, where to find it in the app, how to use it, and a prompt you can copy to try it yourself. What is written here is what the app does today.

Shashwat Mishra is the Developer of SMARAN.AI. SMARAN.AI is a personal assistant that runs on your own computer and phone. Local models keep your conversations on your machine; cloud models are used only when you add a key.

It talks and listens, works on your code (SMARAN Code), browses and uses your computer while you watch, remembers what you ask it to, runs scheduled jobs, makes pictures, pages and video, and pairs with your phone.

⚡ SMARAN Code 🦾 Live Browser & computer use 🧠 Memory across chats 🎙️ Voice & offline wake word ⏱️ Scheduled jobs 🖼️ Images, video & pages 📱 Phone app & linking

🎬 Trying it, or recording it

Most cards end with a prompt you can copy, paste into SMARAN.AI and run. Answers depend on the model you have chosen, so yours will not match anyone else's word for word.

1. SMARAN Code (coding agent)

Where: Sidebar → Code
Coding agent
📌 What it does
  • Works on a project folder: reads the files, edits them, runs commands and tests, and fixes what fails.
  • Approvals are Manual, Smart or Off. A whole run can be undone.
  • You can start the next task while the last one keeps working.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Open Code in the sidebar and choose a project folder.
  2. Pick an approval mode - Manual asks before every change.
  3. Type the task.
🎯 What you will see
  • Each edit and command is shown as it happens.
  • Anything outside your approval mode waits for you to allow or deny it.
Try it
Find your way around a project
"Read this project and tell me, in a short list, what each top-level folder does."
Write and run a test
"Add a unit test for the main date-parsing function, run the tests, and fix anything that fails."

2. Chat, web answers and apps in chat

Where: Sidebar → Chat
Chat
📌 What it does
  • With Web on, SMARAN decides from the question how deep to search and where (the news, papers or forums); the best pages are read and every sentence carries a numbered citation.
  • Compare runs one prompt on two models side by side.
  • /notes, /tasks and /schedule open small apps inside the chat that keep what you put in them.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Switch Web on in the message box for questions about today.
  2. Type /tasks and press Enter to open a task list in the chat.
🎯 What you will see
  • Answers with numbered sources you can open, and follow-up questions to tap.
  • The task list is still there when you come back to the chat.
Try it
A cited answer
"What changed in the most recent Python release? Cite your sources."
An app in chat
"/tasks"
🦾

3. Live Browser and whole-computer use

Where: Sidebar → Live Browser
Agent
📌 What it does
  • Give it a task and watch a real browser work through it, every step shown live with its screenshot.
  • Whole computer mode uses your mouse and keyboard on the desktop the same way.
  • Tell it changes its course while it works. In Notepad and other plain text boxes it reads the text back to check that typing really landed.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Open Live Browser, choose Browser or Whole computer, type the goal and press Start.
  2. Type into Tell it at any time to change the plan; Stop ends it at once.
🎯 What you will see
  • It never types a password or an OTP, and stops before paying, buying or sending.
  • While a window that deletes files or changes disks is open, it will not click or type at all.
Try it
Browser
"Find today's top three India headlines and give me one line on each."
Whole computer
"Open Notepad and write a shopping list: milk, bread, eggs. Do not save it."
🧠

4. Memory across chats

Where: Settings → Memory
Memory
📌 What it does
  • Facts you ask it to remember are kept on this computer and used in later chats.
  • You can see and delete every remembered fact.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. In a chat, ask it to remember something.
  2. Start a new chat and ask about it.
  3. Open Settings → Memory to review or remove what it keeps.
🎯 What you will see
  • The new chat answers from memory, not from the earlier conversation.
Try it

"Remember that I like short answers in Hinglish."
Recall in a new chat
"How do I like my answers?"
⏱️

5. Scheduled jobs

Where: Sidebar → Scheduled
Background
📌 What it does

  • Settings → General (Desktop) → Keep computer awake stops idle sleep so jobs run on time.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Open Scheduled, create a job, give it a prompt and a time.
  2. Use Run now to try it straight away.
🎯 What you will see
  • Each run and its answer appear in the job's history.
Try it

6. Safety, approvals and the startup PIN

Where: Settings → Sandbox & Security
Safety
📌 What it does
  • Commands the agents run go through filters and time limits, and files are checkpointed first so a run can be rolled back.
  • This is not an operating-system sandbox: an approved command runs as you, with your permissions.
  • A startup PIN (4 to 12 digits) can lock the app; after five wrong tries it locks out for longer each time, up to 15 minutes.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Open Settings → Sandbox & Security to choose the mode and see the checkpoints.
  2. Turn on the startup PIN in Settings to lock the app at launch.
🎯 What you will see
  • Anything about money, buying, or restart and shutdown comes back to you as a question - never done on its own.
🎙️

7. Voice calls and the wake word

Where: Speak button / say "Hey SMARAN"
Voice
📌 What it does
  • Two engines: Local (faster-whisper, a local model and Kokoro, all on this machine, English voice) and Gemini (Google's live voice, which can also see your screen or camera; needs a Gemini key).
  • Wake words: on the phone "Hey SMARAN", "Hey Jarvis", "Hey Amarya" and "Hey Myra" are all heard offline; on the PC "Hey SMARAN" and "Hey Jarvis" are.
  • You can interrupt it mid-sentence.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Press Speak, or say the wake word from any app.
  2. Choose the engine and the voice in Settings → Voice & Speech.
🎯 What you will see
  • It answers out loud and can open apps, control music or look at your screen when you ask.
Try it

8. Telegram bot

Where: Settings → Gateway & Bots
Remote
📌 What it does
  • Talk to SMARAN on your computer from Telegram, through a bot you create with your own token.
  • Only owners can command it: SMARAN shows a six-digit code, and whoever sends /pair <code> to the bot becomes an owner. Wrong codes are limited.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Create a bot with @BotFather in Telegram and copy its token.
  2. Paste it in Settings → Gateway & Bots and start the gateway.
  3. Send /pair with the code shown there.
🎯 What you will see

🎨

9. Design Studio

Where: Sidebar → Sites → Design Studio
Create
📌 What it does
  • Describe a page and SMARAN writes it in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with a live preview.
  • Each prompt gets its own design rather than one fixed template.
  • Download the result as an HTML file.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. Open Design Studio, describe the page, and keep refining it in the same conversation.

  • The free cloud has a daily allowance; at busy times there is a queue.

  • Dispatch on the PC sends a task to a linked device.
⚙️ How to use it
  1. On the PC open Settings → Link your phone; on the phone choose Link a computer and scan the QR code, or type the code.
